Charles Brown Jr.

No services are planned for Charles H. Brown, Jr., 84, Lawrence.  He died August 5, 2009, at his home.

Charles was born on February 5, 1925, in Wilmington, DE, the son of Charles H. Brown, Sr., and Myrtle May (Lee) Brown.

He graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1949.  Charles served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.  He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of service.  He later worked for 20 years in the county appraiser’s office for the County of Charlotte, FL.

Charles married Joyce Lisbeth Abele on July 6, 1949, in Wilmington, DE.  She preceded him in death on May 4, 2001.

He is survived by a daughter, Sarah (Sally) Baker and her husband, Douglas A., Lawrence; a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Jordan; and one great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
