Graveside services for Catherine Brubaker Evans, 83, Lawrence will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at her home.
Catherine was born November 14, 1931 in Olathe, KS the daughter of Fred and Lida (Blackledge) Filkins.
She married and was later widowed by James Richards 1949. She later married Clark Brubaker in 1950 and was preceded by him in death in 1980. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Evans who passed away in 2002 after seventeen years of marriage.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by: daughter; Mary Kathleen (1996); son, William Clark Brubaker (2011), four brothers; Frank, Fred, George, and James Filkins, and one sister; Mildred.
Survivors include: four daughters; Deborah Hobgood (Doug) of Kansas City, MO, Wanda Fulks (Lloyd), Tamara Guinn (Gayland) and Denise Brubaker all of Lawrence, KS, son; Robert Brubaker (Edna) of Lawrence, KS, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Kendallwood Hospice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
