Carol Jean Williams

A green burial service for Carol Jean Williams, 62, Spring Hill, KS, will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2019. She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. Carol passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

Carol was born February 13, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant, IA the daughter of Gleason Willard and Martha (Wilcox) Rippey. While she spent many years in the Kansas City area she relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1991. She married William (Billy) S. Williams on February 14, 1992. He survives the home.

Carol was first and foremost kind. Her favorite childhood memories were times spent with her grandparents in Milton, Iowa. Throughout her life she went to great lengths to support and care for her friends and loved ones. When someone she knew was in need she was eager to provide. She poured herself into her relationships and loved with every bit of her strength. Her sweet disposition drew people to her and touched lives wherever she was. Over the years she found joy in her hobbies, painting, gardening and reading. Passion for life, love and family kept her fighting cancer much longer than doctors thought possible.

Other survivors include her two daughters, Candice Laning and Angela (Jason) Rivera; son, Darren (Susan) Hain; six grandchildren, Devon Hain, Erin Hain, Alyssa Hain, Emily Laning, Jaxon Rivera, Aria Rivera; soon-to-be great granddaughter, Everleigh Hain; sisters, Dianne King, Debbie Raymer; five nieces; and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Kansas City Hospice House and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
