Calvin C. Hausman

Funeral service for Calvin C. Hausman of Eudora will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at Lawrence Free Methodist Church, Lawrence, Ks. Burial will be at Clearfield Cemetery. He passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5th, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary- Eudora Chapel.

He was born on March 9, 1940 at LMH Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas. He was the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Gabriel) Hausman. His life began on the farm and he embraced this life-style to become the fourth-generation farmer. He became a Christian early with the strong faith and guidance of his parents. The Clearfield Church was central to the family for worship, fellowship, and service.

Calvin attended Eudora Schools first grade through his senior year. He remained close to his classmates and enjoyed class reunions. He participated in basketball, football, and track. He felt that he learned some ‘life-long’ lessons by being part of a team. As a spectator, he continued to enjoy and follow sports and personalities. He realized he probably would not be able to join the 60th reunion being planned for this year.

He attended Kansas State University and received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics. He was proud to be a member of Farmhouse Fraternity and he has stayed in touch with a local group of friends who are members of Farmhouse.

Other accomplishments include a Soil Conservation Award in 1996; 10-Year Service Award in 1997 from Pioneer as a seed salesman and service on the Board of Education of Eudora Schools from 1989 – 1990’s.

Calvin married Roxana (Kanzig) on November 22, 1967. They began their married life together in the farmhouse where Calvin was raised. They became members of the Lawrence Free Methodist Church. They were blessed to have two wonderful children. Survivors include wife, Roxana, of the home, a daughter, Gina Hauser (Greg) Castle Rock, Co.; a son, John Hausman, Eudora, Ks.; a sister, Dorena Carlson (Tyron), Lenexa, Ks. Cal was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Burns (Tom) of Sun Lakes, Ariz. He also has many nephews and nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons’, Lawrence Free Methodist Church or Douglas County Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

I’m so sorry and want to extend my condolences and my love. I have many fond memories of Calvin, whether it was when I just pulled in the drive and he would always stop what he was doing to visit, or when he and Clarence would put me to work. Your family is part of the many memories I have, from throughout my life.
    God Bless
