Burney D. Deonier

Graveside service for Burney D. Deonier, 72, Eudora will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Deay Cemetery in Eudora, KS. He died August 6, 2016.

He was born May 9, 1944 in LaRussell, MO the son of John Joseph and Erma Iris (Sanders) Deonier.

Burney graduated from Eudora Rural High School in 1962. He graduated from U.S. Trade School in Kansas City, MO with an Auto Mechanics Certification on May 20, 1963. He worked at DeSoto Gallagher Agency, Jim Clark Motors for 2 years, and Pete’s Garage in Eudora, KS for 4 years as a mechanic. He worked for Westar Energy at the Lawrence Power Plant on the Fuel Crew for 18 years. He was a volunteer for the Eudora Township Fire Department.

He married Catherine Hicks on February 16, 1964. They later divorced. He married Eva Holmes, May 21, 1978, in Eudora, KS.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Debra Millhollin (husband Michael), Dixie, WV, Dana Rohrbaugh (husband Clarence), Lawrence, KS/Fairmont, WV; a sister, Carol Clothier, Montesano, WA; and four grandchildren (Garrett Cleek, Eli Rohrbaugh, Joshua Rohrbaugh, and Katie Rohrbaugh)

He is preceded in death by his father, John Deonier; his mother, Erma (Sanders) Deonier; his mom, Lena (Milburn) Deonier; sisters, Betty Atkinson and Goldie Neeley; brothers, Sherman Deonier, Loy deonier, J.W. Deonier, and Dick Deonier.

The family suggest memorials in his name to the Grace Hospice or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family will greet friends Friday, August 12th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel.

    So sorry to hear about Uncle Burney’s passing. Sending prayers and hugs for comfort now and in the coming days. I love you all even though we are so far apart from each other. I’m sorry I can’t make it for the funeral.
