Bryant C. Philgreen

A remembrance service will be held on Saturday July 8th 1-3pm. at Johnny’s Tavern in north Lawrence for Bryant C. Philgreen, 81, Lawrence.  Private family burial will be at Clinton Cemetery. Bryant passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Bryant was born on November 17, 1941, in Westport, MO, the son of Clarence Henry and Martha Irene (Pritchett) Philgreen.

Bryant graduated from West Port High School and attended the University of Kansas.  He worked for Clarence Kelly and Associated for several years and retired as Operations Supervisor.  He was proud of the Employee of the Year award he received.  He was a member of the Busch Pool League.  He cooked steaks at Jet Lag, was a former manager at the Savoy Grill and Russell’s East.

He married Vicki Clelland Everson on February 14, 1986, in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Kim (Dan) Drusch, Bryant C. (Erin) Philgreen, Jeffery Philgreen, Cindy Howell and Bradley Everson; grandchildren, Jessica Drusch, Henry Philgreen, Francis Philgreen, Jeffrey, Kody, Keaton, Idell, Savanna Philgreen, Kali Howell, Justin Coleman, Levi Everson, Abby Everson and Caleb Everson and many great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and grandson, Michael Howell and stepdaughter, Cheryl Christian.

    Bryant was a good friend i remember the numerous times we went to the ku vs nebraska football in lincoln so much fun he will be greatly missed. RIP Beyant

    Vickie: so very sorry to hear about Bryant. He was truly one of a kind and he cooked a mean steak. Bryant didn’t know a stranger and had a good story for every occasion. I’ll never forget that laugh of his.

    Condolences to the family. Bryant gave me my first job at Russell’s East when I was just 16 yrs old. A very nice, generous man; who I haven’t seen since Russell’s East closed way back when. I have fond memories of Bryant. RIP

    We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Russell’s East in 1979. My father-in-law to be wasn’t big on fancy dinners so Bryant had a McDonalds hamburger and fries waiting for him. Loved his sense of humor. Peace to your family.
