Barbara J. Knight

Barbara J. Knight, 87, Lawrence, (formerly of Salina, KS) passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
Barbara was born on March 11, 1935, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Larry Amos and Mary Pearlena (Johnson) Marshall. She attended Hutchinson Public Schools. She married Bobby Knight, of Salina, Kansas and they settled and raised a family in Hutchinson until relocating to Salina in 1973. She worked for the Head Start Program and attended Sterling College while residing in Hutchinson.

In Salina she worked for several years at the First National Bank of Salina and later for the State of Kansas in the Job Training Program.

Barbara dedicated her life to Christ at an early age, and was a long-time member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Hutchinson where she was the pianist and Choir Director until she relocated to Salina. She was an exceptional pianist and played for many social events around the Hutchinson area. She loved watching sports and she was an avid KU Jayhawks basketball fan. She was happy and proud to support and watch her sons and grandchildren on the courts. She also enjoyed crocheting, researching family history and tending to her beautiful flowers she grew with pride.

Barbara was known for her beautiful spirit, her smile and her huge heart that welcomed many children into her life over the years. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Knight, her children, Danny Knight, Michelle Knight and Kelly Knight.

Survivors include her sons, Mark Knight (Christine Kenney) of Lawrence, KS and James (Tinita) Knight of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Natalie (Elijah) Knight-Johnson of Olathe, KS, Noah Knight, of Olathe, KS, Erin (Robert) Walkenshaw of Lawrence, KS, Tyler (Cierra) Knight of Shawnee, KS and Tiffany Knight of Banning, CA; great-grandchildren, Breon, Benjamin and Drew Andrew.

Cremation has been chosen and services will be held at a later date.
