Memorial services for Areta Dorothy Alford Powell Meyer, 91, Lawrence will be held in May. She died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Brandon Woods. She willed her body to the KU Medical Center.
She was born on March 24, 1921 in Lawrence, KS the daughter of Fred S. and Dorothy (Rothwell) Alford.
She was a lifelong resident of Lawrence.
She retired from the University of Kansas Union in 1984.
Survivors include daughter, Taunya S. Reusch, and one son, Rex R. Powell, both of Lawrence.
Read your mother’s death in the paper. Certainly lived a long life and was much enjoyed in her early years. I wish to extend my syjpathy to Taunya and Rex.
I will never forget the time I ran into Artea walking the street in Hawaii.
Think she was as skocked as me.
Sorry to hear of Areta’s passing. I worked with her at the Kansas Union. My condolences to the family. She will be missed.
