Anna Mae Gruber

Mass of Christian Burial for Anna Mae C. Gruber, 89, Eudora will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora, Kansas with a Rosary Recitation starting at 10:30 a.m.. Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Eudora, Kansas. She passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

Anna Mae was born May 16, 1929 in Pierce City, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Witt) Katzfey.

She worked in Student Housing for the University of Kansas for over 30 years.

In her younger years, Anna Mae enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables and sharing them with neighbors and friends. She kept up with current events, especially political, on the radio and TV. Hobbies included, sewing clothing for her family and photography. Spending time with family was of great importance to her. She was a devout Catholic and persevered through many struggles.

Survivors include her daughter; Martha Elizabeth Schleuder, two granddaughters; Marla Danette Schleuder, Lawrence, Kansas, Elizabeth “Betsy” Anne Schleuder, Eudora, Kansas, two brothers; Bernard Katzfey, Lawrence, Kansas, Lawrence Katzfey, Sarcoxie, Missouri, and sister; Bernadine Adamson, Sarcoxie, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Edward Gruber in 2007, son, Richard Gruber, brothers; Leo, Clarence, Francis, Joseph, Richard, Edmund Katzfey, sisters; Emma Palmer, Louise Eck and Marie Wormington.

Memorials may be made in her name to Faith Home Healthcare or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
