Adrian Rey Romero

Adrian Romero of La Grange Park, Illinois (formerly of Lawrence, Kansas) passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Dallas, Texas while on a business trip.

Adrian’s greatest accomplishment was being a loving and devoted husband to Stacy Riordan Romero and an incredible dad to Adrian “AJ, Elizabeth “EB” and Claudia. Adrian always put his family first and loved spending time together and called many friends family too. His infectious smile and caring heart will be missed by numerous family members and friends. One of his greatest joys was bringing people together – especially when it came to cheering on his beloved Jayhawks.

Adrian had a prominent career in the electrical industry for many years and was recently making an impact in the lighting industry. He received his bachelor’s degree and his MBA from North Park University, Chicago, IL.  He was well liked and respected among his peers and his ability to create lasting relationships. Adrian travelled the world and left his mark wherever he went.

Adrian was the oldest son of the late Jose “Joe” Romero and Susan Romero, and he was born on December 11, 1970, in Lawrence, Kansas.  He was the proud brother of Beth Romero, Emily Romero Lilienkamp (Brian) and Jose Romero, Jr.. He was the cherished son-in-law to the late Bob Riordan and Pam Riordan (formerly of Lawrence, Ks). In addition, he was a great brother-in-law to Pat (Carrie) Riordan and Parris (John) Orr. He was also the fun uncle to four nephews (Jaron, Justin, Landon and Lawson) and two nieces (Jocelyn and Julia) that he adored.

Adrian moved to Chicago, Il in 1998 and once again met Stacy Riordan (of Lawrence, Kansas) in 2000. It was love at first site and married on April 28, 2001. They spent the next 24 years building their life together and creating the family of which he was so enormously proud (including Jack, Pawlie and Bella – his fur children).

A Rosary will be said at 3:30 PM on Monday, January 29th and the Visitation to follow from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Warren McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, Kansas. A Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 10 AM at St. John’s Evangelist Church in Lawrence, Kansas.   A private burial will follow.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the to the Romero Children’s College Fund via the Edward Jones Office C/O Joe O’Krepky at 315 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL 60302. Checks can be made payable Edwards Jones/Memo Romero 529 Accounts.

Romero family, we are all so heart broken and sorry for your loss. I worked with Adrian at both TE and Cembre. He brought unmatched passion and had such a contagious smile. I know he loved his family dearly, especially Dads weekends with AJ and how proud he was of the girls tenacity/passion for a cause….as I recall his many fun stories. I pray God surrounds you with his love and covers you with a peace that passes understanding in the difficult days ahead. Hugs and prayers.
