Sharon Mitchell

The funeral for Sharon L. Mitchell, 64, Lawrence, KS will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Ms. Mitchell died Friday, July 22, 2011 at her home.

She was born on June 9, 1947 in Warrensburg, MO, the daughter of Milton C. & Corine Grant Brown.  She was a 1966 graduate of Lawrence High School.

Mrs. Mitchell was a retired kitchen manager at Kennedy Elementary School in Lawrence, KS.  She retired from USD 497 in 2009.

She was married to Donald A. Mitchell on December 6, 1969 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2005.

Survivors include five daughters: Maria Jackson, of San Diego, CA, Amanda Mitchell, of San Diego, CA, Rebecca Mitchell, of Lawrence, KS, Y’Sondra Dixon, of Topeka, KS, T’Nita Faataolia, of San Diego, CA, a son, Donald Mitchell, of Defiance, OH,  nineteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    Sharon was one of the best friends I had. We grew up together and remained friends.
