Memorial visitation for Ronald D. Cook, 77, Lawrence will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Pioneer Cemetery. Mr. Cook died October 14, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 19, 1931, in St. Joseph, MO the son of Richard R. and Anna C. Hansen Cook.
He attended Missouri Western University formally known as St. Joseph Junior College and the University of Kansas. He was the Director of Civil Engineering for Facility-Operations at the University of Kansas. He retired from KU in 1994 after 37 years of service.
He married Dorothy Herndon on October 19, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David M., Lawrence, and Darren W. and wife Susan, Lawrence; one daughter, Diane L. Stoddard and husband, Brian, Lawrence;; six grandchildren, Katie L. Cook, Tara L. Cook, Dustin A. Cook, Derek R. Cook, Nathan D. Stoddard, Adam M. Stoddard; and one great granddaughter, Bria L. McCormick.
The family suggests memorial contributions in his name to Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity-In-Home Care Services, or Charity of the Donor’s Choice and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
