Roger Wilks

Funeral service for Roger Lee Wilks, 54, Lawrence will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Mr. Wilks died June 14, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born on February 10, 1956 in Leavenworth, Kansas the son of Chester Arthur, Sr. & Mary Jane Henninger Wilks. 

He was a self employed mechanic.  He worked many years as a truck driver for Mayflower. 

He married Sandra Cool on October 5, 1975 in Lawrence.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include, one daughter, Carrie Clover, and husband, Ricky, Baldwin City, KS; two sons, William Wilks, Eudora, Wesley Wilks, Lansing; two sisters, Janet Ackley, Lawrence, Judy Akins, Ottawa; five brothers, Loubie Anderson, SR., Henry Edward, Sr., James Marvin, Perry, KS John William, Lawrence, KS Michael Leroy, Oskaloosa, KS and six grandchildren, Taylor, Owen, Westen, Caleb, Ayden, and Wesley, II.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother, Chester Wilks, Jr. and his grandson Austin Clover on February 11, 2010.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his name to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the mortuary.
