Rensselaer McClure

Rensselaer Wright McClure M.D.

Private family inurnment services for Dr. Rensselaer “Rens” Wright McClure, 86, Lawrence,  Kansas will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery.  He died February 14, 2012 at his home.

Rens was born on July 24, 1925 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Rensselaer Wright and Berniece (Potter) McClure.  

He moved to Lawrence in 1939 and was a 1942 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School.  Rens attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.  He graduated from Yale University in 1944.  In 1948 he graduated from the University of  Kansas Medical School.   Dr. McClure interned at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, Illinois and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  Dr. McClure had a medical practice in Mesa Arizona before returning to Lawrence and joining the staff at Watkins Hospital in 1961.  He retired in 1987. He was a veteran and served in the US Army.

He married Mary Anne Wolf on September 29, 1950 in Lawrence, Kansas.  She survives of the home. 

Other survivors include two daughters, Laura Nash, Cynthia McClure, both of Lawrence; three sons, Mickey McClure, Leavenworth, Kansas, David McClure, Las Vegas, Nevada, Scott McClure, Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
