No services will be held for Neva Marie Blair, 83, Lawrence. She died December 27, 2009 at her home.
She was born on January 19, 1926 in Erie, Kansas
She was a supervisor at the University of Kansas where she retired. She enjoyed her friends, their music and dancing. In her earlier years, she played clarinet and saxophone in an all girls dance band. She was a strong believer in equal rights for all people.
Survivors include her 45 year long companion, Carol; two daughters; one son; one grandson.
Carol. I’m sooooo sorry that Neva passed away this past Sunday. I am thinking of you and can’t wait to put my arms around you. Neva was such a special person to so many people. We all loved her so.
Josh is playing at the Bottleneck on Friday night if you feel like seeing us, we would like to see you. We don’t have your phone number. I hope you are doing OK.

I was part of the Appropriate Technology Center way back in the 70’s when we built the solar panel on Neva’s home, and still have fond memories of the steadfast support she gave us, and her smiles and happy demeanor whenever I ran into her. I will miss her!

Carol, I am so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of her. She was an amazing women and I never saw anything but a smile on her face. She will be so missed by all of us.

Carol and Neva’s family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Neva was an amazing person and I will never forget Neva and Carol hanging out with me the day of my great aunt’s funeral. Neva sat and listened to my stories and made a rough day so much easier to bear. Thanks Neva and thanks Carol, please let me know if there is anything I can do.
Carol, I wish that there was something that I could say that would take away the sadness of losing someone so dear. Jess and I will remember you and Neva dancing at the Replay, especially when one crutch wouldn’t keep you from the dance floor. All our love, Jen and Jess.
Carol, Remember that Yvonne and I are there for you. I will miss flirting with Neva, she had such a beautiful heart and she loves you so much. It was so evident how much you loved each other. We will miss her, but we still feel her around us dancing to Kelly Hunt songs without ever having to get tired. We have some great pictures of both of you.
I’ll be thinking of you and remembering Neva every day. The two of you had so many good times together. I hope all those times can keep you smiling, because your smile lights up any room that you’re in.

My most heartfelt sorrow for your loss. I cannot begin the feelings that you must be experiencing right now. Your Neva was a woman of her own. She danced on this earth and made it a better place to live. Everyone who have known you both are better for it. Your love and friendship give me inspiration to live the life that I know that I should. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May your grief and loss be a transition that you can find yourself in~ growth in the sorrow. You may not be younger and I may not be older, but I’ll always be your friend.
