Marylee Brochmann

Mass of Christian Burial for Marylee Brochmann, 86, Lawrence will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Saint Bridget Cemetery in Scammon, KS.  She died May 28, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on April 17, 1926 in Columbus, KS the daughter of Edward and Louise (Tessin) Masterson. 

Marylee graduated with her BA in Political Science in 1948.  She later received her MSW in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas in 1970.  In 1974-1975 she was a Lectuer and then became an Assistant Professor at KU.  Marylee was the Director of the Undergraduate Division of the School of Social Welfare. She retired in 1991.  She was very active in the Miller Hall Alumnae Scholarship and Mortar Board.  She was an avid sailor. 

Survivors include her son, Kristen Brochmann and his wife, Rosy Harari, New York, NY; and longtime companion, Don Chambers, Lawrence. 

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the KU Endowment Association – Miller Hall Alumnae Scholarship and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
