MJ lives on in spirit in my heart and always will, she was absolutely unforgetable – one-of-a-kind. I believe her love for me was constant – when I felt no one else loved me, I believe her love never waivered. During my darkest hours, it was she who could always lift my spirits by taking our conversaton to some goofy topic and we’d be giggling in no time. We even agreed on politics, and that’s saying something!! I am blessed to have a big part of MJ’s life still with me in her Basset hound Otto. I think of MJ every time I look at him! MJ – RIP knowing that Otto will be just as spoiled with me as he was by you.

When Carley gave you the nickname “Mojo,” it forever became the moniker with which I addressed you. As I explained to you, “mojo” means “magical or spiritual power.” You also doubly blessed me with both your own sense of humor and your ability to appreciate mine, another rare power. It goes without saying that your generosity was boundless. I will miss you and think of you always.

I’ll always think of Mary Jo on my way to and from work, as I pass her house on 19th. She was a kind soul who always found a way to bring a smile to my face and other’s. As a co-worker in the Comptroller’s office at KU, I enjoyed hearing her Bassett hound escapades of Sophia and Chloe. Every day it was a new story such as how Sophia had unrolled the entire roll of toilet paper into a big heap or how she made a mess of the house by getting into the newspapers while Mary Jo was away at work. But she always extended instant forgiveness because (as said by Mary Jo) “after all, Sophia is so cute…how could I be mad at her”. It was exemplary of the way she lived her life and the way she treated others. Thank you, Mary Jo, for who you were.I miss seeing your wreath hanging on your front door. :’(
    I’ll never forget you.
