Mary May

 Funeral services for Mary Ellen May, 75, Eudora, KS, will be held 1 p.m., June 18, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.  Burial will follow at the Eudora Cemetery.  She died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at her home. 

Mary was born on July 1, 1936 in Clifton, KS the daughter of Glen Schurr and Leona Simmons.  She was raised by her mother and step father, Jess Haney.   

She graduated from Eudora High school in 1954 and received her MA in Education from Kansas State University.   Mary retired after 32 years as an office manager from USDA.  She was a member of the Eudora Historical Society, President of the United Methodist Women, Eudora United Methodist Church.  She was a substitute teacher for the Eudora Schools.  She traveled the world with her husband while he served in the Air Force. 

She married John Max May on September 6, 1957 in Eudora, KS.  He preceded her in death on December 5, 2005.  

Survivors include one daughter, Karrie L. Botello, and husband Tony, Nederland, TX; four grandchildren, Sadie May, Kristin, Sean and Stephen Botello.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin W. May on March 20, 2003.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.  

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation, and Hospice Care or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    Hello Karrie, I am so sorry to hear about your loss of your Mom. She was always so warm, gracious and welcoming to me when I visited Kevin at the house.
    I have some old letters from Kevin that he wrote me over the years after high school. Would you send me your snail mail address? I would love for you and Sadie to have them. Sincerely, Kevin Holladay
