The funeral service for Mary Ann Puckett, 73, Lawrence, KS, will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. She died November 15, 2010 at her home.
She was born on July 5, 1937 in Covington, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Wetzel and Naomi Bannon.
Mary Ann was an air traffic controller for the U.S. Air Force, while she served in the military. She formerly owned a small monogramming and embroidery business in Denver, Colorado. She also worked as an office administrator for Boeing in Wichita.
She married Norman Puckett on February 14, 1985 in Wichita, Kansas. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include one step-daughter, Christina Neavitt and husband, Jeff, Lecompton, Kansas; one son, Tony Wetzel and wife, Betty, Lake Tapps, Washington, one step-son Norman Dean Puckett and companion, Karin, Oak Grove, Missouri; three sisters, Shirley Herpolsheimer and husband, Richard, Mesa Arizona, Judy Gross, Loveland, Colorado and Lorraine Fugate and husband, Gary, St. Charles, Missouri and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, John Thomas Beasley on June 7, 2004.
Marianne was a beautiful person, she always had a smile for everyone, she always saw good in everyone, so glad she got to go camping this summer with the New Years Eve group, she will be missed
Mary Ann was a talented, nice person. She came into the Puckett family and made it her own. She will be missed.
Mary Ann was a beloved grandmother and friend, I was glad to have her as my grandmother, she will be dearly missed, I love you grandma and I will always have you in my heart and thinking of you every day!
Although we had only met Mary Ann a couple of times, she was always smiling and caring. We just want to let Norman know he will be in our thoughts.
when i think of mary ann, i remember as a child coming home to see mary ann making doll clothes. they were for me. she had so many talents!

I have only known Mary Ann since June when I started working for the Puckett’s. Even though I have only known her for a short amount of time she has truly touched me. She was such a kind and caring person. She always had a smile on her face and a contagious laugh. Rest in peace Mary Ann. You will be missed. Norman, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Norman and family- I was very saddened to hear of Mary Ann’s passing. She was a wonderful and loving person who was always interesting to work with. I still remember the first day she started with Equipment Engineering and began learning the various computerized typewriters we were using at the time. Then she got the first computer in the group and the rest is history. She was always pleasant to work with and I know she will be missed.
We are sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of MaryAnn. She was such a nice lady. Kevin and I both had the pleasure of working with her at Boeing. She was always there to assist us with our jobs. She was a dear lady and I’m sure she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
