Lloyd Powell

 Funeral services for Lloyd W. Powell, 75, Eudora will be held 4:00 p.m. January 5,  2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, KS.  He died December 31, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 24, 1937 in Salem Spring, Arkansas the son of William and Gloria (Goodwin) Powell.
 
Lloyd served his country in the United States Army.  He worked for General Motors for over 30 years retiring in 1997.  
 
He was a 35 year member of the United Auto Workers Union.  He enjoyed technology especially his computer and the social media site Facebook.  He also had an interest in astronomy and used telescopes.  He enjoyed the companionship of his cat. 
 
He married Norma Trout on December 23, 1988 in Topeka, Kansas.  She preceded him in death on March 14, 2002.
 
Survivors include three sons, Frederick “Erick” Powell, Kansas City, MO; Frank Berglund, Meriden, and John Eric Berglund, Lawrence; a daughter, Deborah Wilson, Logan, IA; a brother, Tom Powell, Laurie, MO; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in his name to Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
 
The family will greet friends after the services at the mortuary.
