Leslie Boring

Funeral service for Leslie C. Boring, 88, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. Military Graveside honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  He died on June 1, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor.  He was a resident of Lawrence since 1958. 

He was born on February 11, 1922 in Pindall, Arkansas the son of Ernest C. and Nellie Landergan Boring.

Mr. Boring served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.  He was a member of Ironworkers Local #10 of Kansas City.  He was also a member of the Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church and the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post #14, Lawrence. 

He married Loretta N. Boring on January 14, 1952 in Pendleton, Oregon.  She survives of the home.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Boring, Lawrence, Paul Boring, Canon City, Colorado and Phil Harris Teeter, Lawrence; one brother, David Boring, Gooding, Idaho; two sisters, Florence Bateman, Gresham, OR,  and  Viola C. Hedrick, Goldendale, WA; 7 Grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by seven sisters.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Warren-McElwain mortuary.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to the American Legion,Dorsey-Liberty Post #14 and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
