Leola Murray

 

Funeral service for Leola Evelyn Murray, 83, Lawrence, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.  She died October 18, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 25, 1926, in Eudora, KS the daughter of Alvin E. Sr., and Lillie Mae (Smith) Bond.

Mrs. Murray was a homemaker and a seamstress, she had also worked at KU Bookstore and JcPenny’s.  She enjoyed crocheting and also attended Craft Shows.  She was also a member of the EHU for many years.

She married Milliard E. Murray on February 20, 1946, in Eudora, KS.  He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kathy Hamilton and husband, Ed of Gas, KS; Jean Eberhart and husband, Delbert of Lawrence, KS; Jane Lamb and husband, Steve of St. George, KS; three sons, Mike and his wife, Eileen of Topeka, KS, Dennis M., Lawrence, and Gary G. and his wife, Edith of Baldwin City, KS; three sisters, Carol Belles, Lawrence,  Alvena Tuggle and Edna Holmes, both of Eudora, KS; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin and a sister, Gladys.

The family will greet friends 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. October 22, 2009 at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Douglas County VNA , Rehabilitation and Hospice Care and sent in care of the mortuary.
