Jimmie Kraft

Funeral services for Jimmie L. Kraft, 89, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.   Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Paola Cemetery in Paola, KS.  She died on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.

She was born on January 21, 1922 in Strawn, TX, the daughter of Thomas A. & Bertie J. Stuart Utley. She had formerly lived with her family in Salina, KS, Wichita, KS, and Paola, KS, before moving to Lawrence in 1981.

Jimmie Kraft was a homemaker. Earlier in her life, she was a beautician.

She married Wallace E. Kraft, Sr. on May 7, 1943 in Strawn, TX.  He survives in their home.

Other survivors include six sons; Dr. Wallace E. (wife Jeannie) Kraft, of Paris, TX, Phillip T. Kraft, of Lawrence, KS, Dr. James N. (wife, Christine) Kraft, of Lawrence, KS, John C. (wife Robin) Kraft, of Wichita, KS,  David H. (wife Yu Hong) Kraft, of Issaquah, WA), and Jeffrey A. Kraft, of Los Angeles, CA, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren

The family will greet friends from 4 – 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
