Funeral service for Janice M. Colman, 90, Eudora will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 Warren-McElwain Morutary-Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery. Ms. Colman died June 28, 2011 at Pioneer Ridge.
She was born on August 27, 1920 in Lawrence the daughter of Harry Oscar and Gesina “Zena” (Ziegler) Guenther.
Janice graduated from Eudora High School in 1938. She attended Lawrence Business College and was an Accountant for Ship Winters, Bill Ireland and Turner Chevy dealerships. She worked for KC Parks & Engineer and Hercules Powder Plant. Janice was a lifelong member of St. Paul ‘s United Church of Christ and a native Eudoran. She was also a longtime Avon Representative. Janice was a member of the Jolly Dozen and Golden Agers Club.
She married Arlan “Keith” Colman on February 9, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2005. They traveled on many trips overseas and enjoyed short trips to Branson, MO in their later years. They both took a very active role in the raising of their only four grandchildren. Janice never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed by her family and everyone that knew her. Just by her presence she has left this world a better place.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Rogers, Lawrence; a sister, Doris Touchton, Pittsburg, KS; a sister-in-law Maxine Guenther, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Lisa Rogers, Cole Rogers both of Colorado, Derek Rogers, and Damon Rogers, both of Lawrence; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlan Kay Colman on September 28, 2004.
The family will greet friends 5:30 – 7 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and may be sent in care of the Mortuary.

Janice was a very lovely lady and a loved grandmother and great grandma.
Carolyn, my thoughts are with you. Your mother was a wonderful person. I know she appreciated your loving care.
I will miss Mom, my mothers mother, my grand-mother, and my childrens great grandmother. We had so much fun when we all got together. So many awkward, but funny, and memorable moments. Mom truly understood the importance of family, and was always there. She taught me about kindness, and she loved spending time with us. Thank you, Mom! I miss you, but you are here with us.
Aunt Janice was a special woman who was always there for her family. She never shut her door out to anyone and made the best buttermilk brownies I have ever had. She taught me how to play Solitaire and was someone you could always have a laugh with. I have missed being able to see her face to face for a long while now but know that she is happy today being up in Heaven with Arlan and Keith.
I think about you all the time, and I really miss you. Thanks for sharing all of the good in you with me. I carry it with me!
