James “Jim” Stoner

The family will be receiving friends in celebration of the life of James “Jim” Roger Stoner, 87, between 2:00 – 4:00pm on Friday February 3, 2012 at the Smith Center, 4730 Brandon Woods Terrace, Lawrence, KS.  He died January 29, 2012. 
Jim was born on June 20, 1924 on the family farm near Talmage, the son of Andrew K. and Sara E. (Greenough) Stoner.  Following graduation from Edson High School, Jim enlisted in the Army Signal Corps during WWII. The family relocated to Garden City, Kansas in 1948 and Jim worked in automotive parts departments until his retirement in 1989.
Jim is survived by Lorna, his wife of 67 years of Lawrence. Jim and Lorna have two sons, James “Roger” (Shere), Kenneth L. (Ruth), two daughters Lorna “Lorene” Lewis (Robert), and Peggy Lynn Taylor (Terrence), 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Douglas County Senior Center or a charity of your choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
