James Reeves

Funeral services for Corby Reeves, 93, Lawrence will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Military graveside honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.  He died on February 18, 2011 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar, Lawrence, KS.  He was a resident of Lawrence since 1954. 

He was born on March 5, 1917 in Prue, OK the son of Jim and Eva (Davis) Reeves.

Mr.Reeves served in the U.S. Army Infantry 85th Division as a Staff Sergeant and was stationed in Italy during WWII.  He was awarded the Silver Star.  He was a pipe fitter at Kansas Public Service until he retired in 1982.  He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Eudora, KS and Disabled American Veterans. 

He married Mary Faye Baker in 1948 in Marshall, AR.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Fred Reeves and wife, Cindy, Lawrence, KS; two grandchildren, Gregory and Jessica Reeves; and five great grandchildren, Adam, Cole, Brett, Kylee, and Grant. 

Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association – Greater KC Area and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
