Hubert Kornbrust

Services for Hubert “Herb” V. Kornbrust, 85. Lawrence,` HAVE BEEN CHANGED…they will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Mr. Kornbrust died June 17, 2011 at Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.

He was born on February 8, 1926 in Mendon, MO the son of John V. and Bernadette (Wolfe) Kornbrust. 
Herb was a Journeyman Lineman for the Union Local #304 I.B.E.W. Herb owned Kornbrust Pole-Line Builders for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Dorsey Liberty Post #14, the Moose Lodge in Topeka and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lawrence. 
He married Jewell Jean Dorrell in Marceline, MO. They were married for 48 years until her death on December 9, 1991. He later married Charlene (Crady) Robinson in Lawrence on January 8, 1994. She survives of the home.  
Other Survivors include four daughters, Linda Walthall and husband, John, Kay Lang and husband, Russ, Pamela Rothwell, Phyllis Kornbrust all of Lawrence; two sons, Jerry Vincent and wife, Jan, Donald L. and wife, Debbie, both of Lawrence; one sister Anna Lou Schondfelt and husband, Rick, Independence, MO; 9 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Granchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Brewer and one infant daughter, Donna June in 1951.  3 Step Daughters, Nancy L. Tomlin and husband, Bill, Terri Pentlin, and husband Dan, Sherry Welter, and husband Joe, all of Perry; two step sons, Danny Robinson and friend, Sandee, Scott Robinson and wife, Sharolyn, Lawrence; 12 Step Grandchildren; 24 Step Great Grandchildren and 1 Step Great Great Granddaughter. 
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Meals on Wheels or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary. 
The family will greet friends 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday June 21, 2011 at the Mortuary
