Funeral service for Howard Dee Hasler, 65, Lawrence will be held at 11 am Friday, June 21, 2013 at Plymouth Congregational Church. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery in Lawrence. He died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
He was born on December 28, 1947 in Pueblo, CO the son of Charles Daniel and Helen Marie (Ferns) Hasler.
He graduated from The University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in education. Howard was the Vice President of LRM Industries and the previous Director of Cottonwood, Inc. and SDSI in Garden City, KS. He was an associate member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Howard was raised in the Catholic Church.
Howard married Cynthia Ann Steele on April 28, 1990 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Helen, Lawrence; three sons, Robb Ryan and wife, Edmée, Myrtle Beach, SC, Travis Evan and wife, Samantha, Denver, CO; Chad Aaron Wiley and wife, Heather, Lawrence, KS; brother Harvey Lee Hasler, Bozeman, MT; sister-in-law, Karen and husband, Marv, Ellinwood, KS; grandson, Kaelum Robb Rodriguez Hasler; his first wife, Linda Wiley Hasler, Lawrence and father-in-law, Dick Steele. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles in 1987; and mother-in-law, Ruth Steele.
Howard loved family, friends, traveling, hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. He enjoyed family trips and he loved God.
The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Cottonwood Foundation or the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the Mortuary.
We will miss our friend Howard but always remember his ready smile, heart laugh, and warm hugs. We are privileged to have known this loving man who combined zest for life with fine principles and integrity. He hold Cindy, his family, and all who knew and loved him in our hearts.

We were so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. We remember all the good times and know he will be missed and forever in our memories. We will be unable to attend the service but our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless and Keep You!
We are sad to hear about the loss of Howard. We both have many special memories of him when he lived in Lakin and will always treasure the hunting and golfing times we shared so many years ago. We were so glad we got to see and visit with him at Travis’ wedding last year.

I don’t know your family but please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Losing someone you love is always hard but please take comfort in the Bible’s promise. Jesus said: “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his [that is, Jesus’] voice and come out.” – John 5:28, 29. I hope this verse brings you a measure of peace in your time need.
Although I didn’t know Howard or his family, I do know his mother Helen. We live in the same apartment building. My deepest sympathy to her and the rest of the family. Please know you are all in my prayers and thoughts at this time.

Cindy and family, I was so sadden to hear of Howard’s passing. Yet another courageous sole has been taken by cancer.

You will be in our prayers. I had just talked with Howard last week and he had a peace about him that we can now understand. Howard was a business partner of mine in the 70s but more importantly a life long friend. He possessed a “Can’t Fail” attitude in all he attempted. My life was greatly enriched by knowing him. He will be missed.

I only met Howard when I came for Travis and Sami’s wedding but he really impressed me with his toast to the bride and groom. Such dignity and love came through. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.
We have fond memories of Howrd. We offer sincere sympathy to Ryan, Travis, Chad, Linda and all those who loved him.
Howard and I were high school friends. My memories are so vivid and kind. He was a wonderful friend, a spectacular athlete and loving human being. My thoughts are with Helen and Harvey
Cindy and family, our hearts and prayers go out to you. As much as we try we are never ready for this. Howard was a great friend and partner. He called me Kujo (the dog in the movie) and I called him Heinz (didn’t know what kind of dog he was). In 16 years of business we never had a cross word and my only regret is that I didn’t do more with Howard Hasler. May God hold you close.
Our hearts go out to you all. Howard was a great friend. Doing business with him and LRM helped make our company, Apple Tree Homes, a success.

Sorry to hear about Howard. We both worked for Howard at LRM. I really enjoyed working there. I contacted Howard a few years ago for a letter of recommendation and found out about his battle with cancer. I know he was fighting hard. Prayer to your family. God bless. Lori

There are many, many memories of working together with Howard at LRM. Howard was a true warrior in his fight against the evil “C.” We’re thinking of you, Cindy.
