Hollis Moore

Graveside services for Hollis E. Moore, 66, McLouth, KS, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.  He died on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Hollis was born on April 25, 1946 in Rolla, MO the son of Hollis Efton Moore, Sr. and Frances Rebecca Hance Moore.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was an electrician in the Facilities and Operations Department for the University of Kansas for 10 years until he retired in 1997.

He was a member of Eudora Masonic Lodge #68.

He married Beverly Ann Huggins on November 4, 1967 in Porterville, CA.  She survives of the home. 

Other survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Moore Sanchez, son-in-law, Jeff Sanchez; four grandchildren, Courtney Martin, Cody, Caylee, and Camryn Sanchez, all of Kearney, MO; two sisters, Becky Bahnmaier, Perry, KS, Debbie Moore-Kirk, Olathe, KS; and two brothers, Steven and Richard Moore, both of Lawrence.

The family will greet friends on Friday from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Warren-McElwain mortuary in Lawrence. 

The family suggests memorials in his name to the Jefferson County Home Health and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    Beverly Kim Jeff and family, our hearts go out to you all. We know this time is difficult and it’s very hard to grasp it. Time will heal all wounds and just knowing that he’s no longer suffering should give you peace. We love you all and we are always here for anything.

    May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. Realize, though, that no matter how much we love another person, we cannot control his or her life, nor can we prevent “time and unforeseen occurrence” from befalling those we love.
