Hazel Fry

Funeral service for Hazel H. Fry, 91, Lawrence will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  She died March 21, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. 
She was born on March 6, 1921 in Winchester, KS the daughter of Raymond S. Connelly and Ina May Courtney Connelly.
During World War II at the age of 21 she moved to Santa Monica, California and took a job as “Rosie the Riveter” helping to assemble airplanes for the war effort.  She then moved back to Lawrence, KS and was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper of 17 ½ years from Owens Flower Shop.
Hazel married Cecil Fry on October 25, 1962 in Lawrence and they were happily married for 23 years until his death on June 29, 1985.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Lawrence; daughter, Deloris, Gardner; brother, Marvin Connelly, McLouth; three grandchildren, Angie, Janell and Dawn & five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Connelly. 
She will lie-in-state Sunday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Memorial contribution may be made in her name to the Hazel H. Fry Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    March 7 2011Sorry to hear of Bub`s passing but we will alyaws have the memories of our growing up on the eastside as teen`s and his life in Oshtemo and Richland. We regret that we will be in Phoenix for our granddaughter`s wedding and will not be able to attend services
