Hazel Bryan

Funeral service for Hazel A. Bryan, 83, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.  She died on Friday, January 16, 2009, in her home that she grew up in.

She was born on January 24, 1925, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Jona P. and Mary Ellen Roth Yoder.

 

She  graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1943.  She continued to be a member of the Liberty Memorial High School lunch bunch. 

 

Mrs. Bryan was a homemaker. She formerly worked as a checker at A&P Grocers in Lawrence and later worked for many years at the Jennings Daylight Donut Shop in downtown Lawrence, before her retirement.

 

She was a lifetime member of the Lawrence Free Methodist Church and was an original member of the Prime Timers Group.

 

She married Richard M. Bryan on September 2, 1945, in Lawrence, KS.  He preceded her in death on March 1, 1981. 

 

Survivors include two sons, Richard A. (wife, Connie), Linwood, KS, and Charles R., Cumming, GA; a brother, Harley J. (wife, Cleo) Yoder, Lawrence; and one grandson, Richard Robert Bryan, Cumming, GA.

 

The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20th at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence Free Methodist Church and sent in care of the mortuary.
