Hazall White-Slan

Mrs. Hazall Eunice Alicia White-Slan, 86, of Lawrence, KS, passed on August 25, 2013 in Topeka, KS. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.

Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Weinkauf officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.

Hazall was born in St. George’s, Bermuda to Harold Hazall and Jennie Alicia White on November 17, 1926. Her parents preceded her in death along with her grandson, Anthony White.

Hazall is survived by two sisters, Gloria (White) Leverock, Olivette (White) Robinson and one brother, Carmond White of Bermuda. She also has numerous nieces, and nephews and cousins that live in Bermuda and the United States.

Hazall met and married James Galtin Slan in St. Georges, Bermuda in February 1955 and came to the United States in October 1955. From the that union she had five children: Lenora M. (Slan) Williams, Colorado Springs, CO; James G. Slan, Jr.; Leslie A. (Slan) Carper; Lorne M. Slan and Sean C. Slan of Lawrence, KS. Hazall also has two other sons, Glen A. White and Keith E. White of Bermuda and Tacoma, Washington, Hazall has eight surviving grandchildren Tammy (White) McKoy, Clayton, NC; Jennifer A. (Searcie) DiSalvo of Tampa, FL; Keenan White of The Dominican Republic; Michael J. Williams, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; Erik M. Slan and AllysSun A. Carper of Lawrence, KS and Meiko & Tariq White of Bermuda. Hazall also has several great-grandchildren: Reginald M. Williams, Maleah L. Sutton and Myka S. Williams of Colorado Springs, CO; Evan Kameron, Alesa and Tamela McKoy of Clayton, NC; Suraya, Keenan & Keith White, Jr. of Tacoma, WA; Jahzeiko, Jahdai, Jahdarius, Alaysia, Toriah & Kenzo White of Bermuda and Kendry White of the Dominican Republic.

Hazall was a magnificent homemaker; she loved to knit and crochet, sang in the choir at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, was active in various social clubs and never knew a stranger. She loved to travel and made it all the way to Paris, France via Germany. Hazall also lived in Charleston, SC, Waipahu, Oahu, HI, Fort Walton Beach, FL and Topeka, KS. When her husband retired they chose Lawrence, KS.

The family requests that donations be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, KS for the loving and compassionate care given to our mother. Thank you to the various staff at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center who gave personal and loving care to our mother. And, another thank you to Grace Hospice and Nurse Rick that ensured our mother, Hazall, made her final journey with the upmost care and dignity.
