Francis “Sonny” Foley

Funeral services for Francis L. “Sonny” Foley 70, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church (3200 W. Clinton Parkway Ct.) in Lawrence.  Burial will follow in the Hubbel Hill Cemetery west of Tonganoxie, KS.  He died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 20, 1941 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Joseph and Dorothy Holladay Foley. He had lived in the Lawrence area his entire life.

Francis graduated from Draughons College of Commerce Engineering and attended Pittsburg State University and the University of Kansas.

For over fifty years, he owned and operated Foley Construction Company, Inc. in Lawrence.

Francis was a member of the Kansas Thoroughbred Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.

He was married to Reta Williams Foley. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Greg and wife, Jackie Foley, of Lecompton, KS, a daughter, Debbie Foley, of Nixa, MO, a stepson, Kevin and wife, Keri Williams, of Tomball, TX, seven grandchildren; Kayla Foley, Kourtney Foley, Grant Williams, Grace Williams, Bobbie Pifer, Raven Pifer, and Tyler Pifer and two great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Virtue.

The family suggests memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society or to the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary in Lawrence.

    I was sorry to read of Sonny’s passing. I will always remember his laugh and how entertaining he could be. I have some good stories, but not suitable for this page. He was a good man and Father. Sorry we can’t be there for you.
