Ellis Gonuslin

Funeral Services for Ellis “Geechie” Gonuslin 93, Lawrence will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

 

Mr. Gonsulin died March 13, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Topeka, KS.

 

Ellis was born June 6, 1915 in New Iberia, Louisiana Al, the son of Alec and Melissa Jones

Gonuslin.

 

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, assigned to the 535th Port Company  and 516th Port Battalion in France. He was in construction work for many years in this area.

 

He married Wanda Mae King in December 1952. They were married for 56 years. He raised

two grandsons, Thomas and Ellis Daniels.

 

Survivors include: his wife, a daughter, Eva Daniels and a step daughter Connie Shaw, all of

Lawrence, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Dorsey-Liberty Post #14, American Legion and sent in care of the mortuary.

 

He will lie in state on Monday from 9 a.m.-9p.m. at the mortuary

 

The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
