Funeral service for Dorothy Elizabeth Calhoun, 95, Merriam, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. She died December 18, 2009, at Sunrise Assistant Living. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
She was born October 3, 1914, in Douglas County, KS the daughter of Elmer and Mae Stanwix.
Dorothy spent most of her life in Merriam, KS. Mrs. Calhoun was an antique dealer. She owned and operated Elizabeth’s Cellar in Merriam.
She married John Calhoun on October 30, 1937, in Douglas County, KS. He preceded her in death in November 1983.
Survivors include one sister, Eleanor Jean Tipton, Longmont, Colorado; three nieces, Cindy Eller, Sari Sackrider, Jane Tipton; two nephews, Jon Ingalls and Michael Tipton; several great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Maurine Ingalls in 2006 and Janette Prince in 2008.
The family will greet friends at 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
