    Monica and family,

    You’re in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I remember your dad being a professor but never realized how smart he was!! I’m sure you have many good memories of him.

    Alison and family: How blessed I was to have your dad as a professor and an embodiment of friendship. What good he did with his two best friends (magistri Senior and Nelick). My sister Jean was also very sad for hearing the news, and exclaimed ’he was a great professor’. May you be carried with love. “With the spirits of the righteous made perfect, give rest to the soul of Thy servant, O Saviour; and preserve it in that life of blessedness which is with thee, O thou who lovest mankind.”

    We have never met Dr. Quinn but we are very familiar with the mark that he has left on this Earth. We are so grateful for the contribution he made to his students especially in the Pearson/IHP. His life most definitely touched others who are in turn touching others…..in the quest for the True, the Good and the Beautiful. He has truly left a mark on us all….although we never met him.

    Dennis Bartholomew Quinn,
    Has gone to the Eternal Inn;
    There by the fire,
    The angelic choir,
    And his waiting wife welcome him.

    Safe from the cold of the night,
    The sparrow has finished his flight;
    There in the hall,
    United with all,
    Enjoying now warmth and light.

    Joined now with Frank and John,
    Their conversation goes on; (and on)
    There the great three,
    In heavenly glee,
    Continue to sing their song.

    We who are now left behind,
    Remember him gentle and kind;
    Here let us pray,
    On this holy day,
    May God’s love all of us bind.

    The Quinn is dead,
    Long live the Quinn!

    O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
    The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
    The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
    While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
    But O heart! heart! heart!
    O the bleeding drops of red,
    Where on the deck my Captain lies,
    Fallen cold and dead.

    O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
    Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
    For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
    For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
    Here Captain! dear father!
    The arm beneath your head!
    It is some dream that on the deck,
    You’ve fallen cold and dead.

    My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
    My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
    The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
    From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
    Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
    But I with mournful tread,
    Walk the deck my Captain lies,
    Fallen cold and dead.
