A Memorial Service for Cathy Lynn Blevins, 51, Lawrence, KS, will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. She died October 4, 2011 at her home.
She was born on February 3, 1960 in Morganfield, KY, the daughter of Orvel Wayman and Teresa Erma Lee (Shofner) Shirel.
She formerly worked in the linen department at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence.
She received an Associate’s degree as a Medical Secretary.
Survivors include one daughter; Teresa Freeman, Lawrence, KS; step-children; Danielle LaVeta, Lawrence, KS, Jesse Blevins, Lawrence, KS, Joshua Blevins, Lawrence, KS, Cassandra Blevins, Lawrence, KS, three brothers; Paul Shirel, Henshaw, KY, Timothy Shirel, Morganfield, KY, Tom Shirel, Uniontown, KY; a sister; Beverly Shirel, Lawrence, KS; and one grandson; Ryland Freeman, Lawrence, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
I am so sad to hear of your Mother’s passing! I worked with her at Brandon Woods for several years. Such a hard worker and such a nice lady! Cathy will be missed by many!

Teresa, I know you didn’t know me, but I was a good friend of your mom’s when we were in high school. So Sorry to hear of this….your Aunt Donna told me this morning in the beauty shop. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!!!!
