I met Barbara because she needed a “tune-up” with her speech. She was absolutely delightful to work with, and I looked forward to each opportunity! She was sweet and kind and had a great sense of humor! It was an honor to observe her and Earl interact; the love they shared is rare.

    Dear Earl and Family,
We are very sorry to hear of your loss and want to extend our sincere condolences. We have not forgotten the warmth and kindness Earl showed us when we first arrived at KU(fall 1971), or the fact that we discovered mutual friends dating back to Holland, Michigan (Gene and Mary van Tamelen). Wishing you all the best going forward,
    Sincerely yours,
    Bob & Lois Hanzlik

I grew up thinking it was normal to live next door to the same family your entire childhood, and have kids your own age to play with. We all have wonderful memories of 21st street.
    Love to you all!

We send condolences for the loss of Barbara. You worked so hard to help her. We enjoyed knowing her “across the street,” and Al did when he was on the second floor. She is now at peace. We wish you and the family the very best as you recall so many happy memories.
