Vernie Wayne Young

Vernie Wayne Young, 73, Kansas City, KS was born on March 17, 1947 in Slagle, West Virginia and went to rest in the arms of his savior on February 26, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery. A visitation will be held one-hour prior, beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3rd at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora in Eudora, KS.

He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Southeast Asia and Europe during the cold war.

He was an employee of Hercules and the United States Postal Service and retired in 2007.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Ann Young, of the home; two daughters, Deborah and husband, David Burrous of De Soto, KS; Patricia and husband, Richard Jeffries of Kansas City, KS; one son, Edward and Deborah Young of Sedgwick, KS; grandchildren, Jason Burrous and Heather Burrous, Jamie Johnston, Cody Clark and Sarah Clark, Caleb Wright, Bailey Young and Toby Young, Alyssa Mullens and Derek Mullens, Oklahoma; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard and Vonda Young, Inez, Kentucky, Terry and Jo Fisher, Independence, MO; and well-loved extended family too numerous to mention.

Memorial contributions may be made in Vernie’s name to Belton Gospel Tabernacle and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
