Arnold “Arnie” D. Morgison

Mass of Christian Burial for Arnold “Arnie” D. Morgison, 82, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Arnie passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his home in Lawrence, KS surrounded by family. He died of and after a long fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Arnie was born October 18, 1938 in Clay Center, KS the son of Fred and Lena (Chaput) Morgison. Arnie graduated from Clay Community High School. He worked at an auto parts store and was the projectionist at the Rex Theater both in Clay Center, KS. Arnie married Bertha “Bert” E. Yeager on November 12, 1958. The couple moved to Lawrence in 1964 where Arnie worked as a machinist at Pipperts, then he managed a Texaco gas station. He retired after 26 years as a foreman at the KPL Power Plant. Arnie’s Boats Sales and Service was established in 1971 in the driveway of their first home in Lawrence and later moved north of Lawrence where it still is today. Arnie’s son Keith took over the business in 2015.

Arnie was a member of the Mid America Falcons Chapter of the Falcon Club of American, Lawrence Region Antiques Automobile Club of America, Cougar Club of America, Knights of Columbus, Elks Ottawa Lodge. His hobbies were restoring his 1968 Mercury Cougar and 1960 Ford Falcon Ranchero, which he entered into car shows winning many awards trophies. He also enjoyed playing poker with his friends.

Family members who have preceded Arnie in death are his parents Fred and Lena Morgison; two brothers, LeRoy Morgison, Eddie Morgison; one son, Sheldon Morgison.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bert, of the home; children, Kevin D. Morgison (Jill) Eudora, KS, Keith E. Morgison (Linda) Lawrence, KS, Patricia “Patty” R. McGuire (Larry) Lawrence, KS; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and his sister, Virginia “Gin” Modean Wamego, KS.

A Rosary will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 21 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. He will lie-in-state until 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends later that evening from 6:00-8:00 pm.
