Gail Elaine Morgan

Funeral service for Gail Elaine Morgan, 69, Oskaloosa, KS will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. She died August 18, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

On December 31, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas, Gail was the first of six children born to Jack and Dorothy (Layton) Collins. Gail and her siblings grew up in and around the Kansas City area until Jack broke the cycle of inner-city living and moved his family to a farm in Williamsburg Kansas.

It was there that Gail became the first of the Collins family to graduate from high school and college. She received her BS in Art from the Kansas State teachers College in Emporia and later received a BSE in Education. Gail was a member of Chi Omega and maintained a relationship with her sisters to the end. Chi Omega was very important to her. It brought her great joy to receive letters, calls, cards, and visits from them. (A special thanks to Gloria)

She was married and later divorced. The proudest moments in her life were the births of her two daughters Emily & Erin. She also cherished her grandchildren.

After the age of thirty her life was much like that of Lazarus in the parable from the Book of Luke. Like Lazarus, in her lifetime she received “bad things”. Though she endured decades of mental and physical anguish, her faith in Christ never failed. And like Lazarus, she is now comforted in Heaven. No more pain and suffering forever.

She is survived by her two daughters Emily and Erin, , Kansas City area; one sister Cheryl Collins/Robinson (John), Maryland; three brothers, Terry Collins (Joyce), Wathena Ks, Fred Collins Florida, Jack Collins Texas; one Aunt, Sandy, Kansas City area; and numerous cousins.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be sent in her name to the charitable organization of your choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
