Rhetta Jo will always be a big part of my life, having known her over 70 years. Our friendship lasted long past our school years in many ways. We had fun at the bridge table, with our Lawrence High School classmates and many other lighthearted activities. But the serious and no nonsense manner of leadership and organizational skills allowed the Class of 1955 to have wonderful opportunities to stay in touch not only at reunions every five years but in other ways as well. She was a support in our times of sorrow and happiness in word and deed. A pillar in a world of uncertainty is an image I will always carry in my heart as I think about her presence in my life.

Rich, please find peace passing all understanding as you too grieve for your beautiful sister. And may her family know that she was a very important person to many, many others with whom her life touched. She will be sadly missed. “Genie”

    Dear Rich
Rhetta Jo was a very special person in my life. We shared so many memories beginning in the 7th grade when we met at the Junior High School and through the seasons of our lives. I will miss being able to pick up my phone and give her a call. Pictures in my albums and in my heart will always be with me.

Rhetta Jo hired me in 1970 to work as a student for her and then I worked with your mother in the financial aid office while I completed my accounting degree. We remained in touch for a number of years until she retired since we both worked on campus. She was a wonderful mentor and friend. My deepest sympathies.

Rhetta Jo was a close and beloved friend of my Mother Jane. They spent many happy years together cheering for the Jayhawks and playing bridge and bunco. Rhetta took good care of those she loved, and was always there for Mom. I admired Rhetta for standing up for her beliefs. Rest In Peace sweet friend.

I was so saddened to learn of the passing of Rhetta Jo. I first met Rhetta when I moved to Kansas from Pennsylvania in the late 60’s. I applied for a job in the School of Business and Rhetta hired me. We at that time became good friends that has lasted through the years. She will be missed by many. Rest in Peace good friend.
