Ruby V. Freels

Graveside services for Ruby Virginia Freels, 79, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at her home.

Ruby was born on October 16, 1940 in Lawrence, the daughter of James and Sarah (Hall) Stone.

She worked as a Vice President at Lawrence National Bank. She later worked for the State of Kansas.

She married Leon “Ray” Freels on October 18, 1958. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2016.

Survivors include her nephew, Raymond Stone, Lawrence, KS and niece, Beverly Tubbs, Kansas City, MO.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society or VNA Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66006.

Due to Covid-19 please be mindful of social distancing if planning to attend the graveside service.

    Judy & Raymond: So sorry to hear of Ruby’s passing. Thought sure she would outlive us all. Glad I got to visit so much with her at the reunion last fall.

    Ruby was my first boss, we didn’t always agree on everything but I am the banker today because of her. Rest In Peace dear lady.

    I’ve been a close friend of Ruby’s and Ray for many years. She was a wonderful friend to me and Larry. I will miss our everyday 6:00 p.m. calls. Raymond you were a wonderful nephew to Ruby. I hope we can continue to be close. Love to you and Judy.

    Condolences to Ruby’s loved ones. I delivered her mail for 6 years & always enjoyed our visits@the mailbox. She could always brighten my day&make me laugh. What a great personality she had! One of the people i miss most from that route.
