Funeral service for Lorraine A. Nesler, 88, Lawrence will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 2211 Inverness Dr. in Lawrence. She died on March 28, 2014 at Allie’s Village Memory Care.
She was born on July 16, 1925 in St. Charles, Minnesota, the daughter of Harrison E. and Emma R. (Ramin) Schacht.
Lorraine enjoyed reading and gardening.
She married Ralph I. Nesler on November 8, 1947 in Rochester, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2010.
Survivors include one son, Ralph I. Nesler, Jr., and wife Linda, Buckner, Missouri; two daughters, Linda L. Eckard and husband, Stephen, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Janice Nesler-Loux, and husband, Donald Loux, Lawrence, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Erin Maddox, Steven Nesler, Dane Eckard, Ronald Ellis, III, Eric Loux, Alex Eckard, and Brian Loux; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gordon (Joan) Schacht. Her other brothers Lyman, Ronald, Conrad, Herbert, and Gerald Schacht and sisters Iola Schacht and Velma Caffes. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter Linda Christian and one great grandson, Kenneth Christian.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Visiting Nurses, or the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, Kansas.
May your family take comfort in this verse; John 5:28, 29: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” May Jesus’ words of the resurrection hope bring you comfort in your time of grief.
