My thoughts and prayers are with Amario and his family in the days ahead. As Amario’s instructor for the Ed.D program at UMKC, his Mother would be very proud of him as a scholar and educator. I did not have the pleasure of meeting her but the impressive character and intelligence of Amario is a testament to what she instilled in her son.

To The Family of Mrs. Elsie Elaine “Lanie” Griffin

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)

We, the Lewis, Cherry and Johnson Families, join with you in celebrating the life and home going of your dear “Lanie”. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family.

Although no words can ease the loss you bear, please accept our heartfelt sympathies for your loss and know that the entire family is in our thoughts and prayers. We are reminded in John 5:24, which states “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” Our hope is that you will take comfort in knowing she now rests in the loving arms of Almighty God.

As difficult as it may be just now, please remember with joy and gratitude, the times you shared with her. We are sure all of your lives have been greatly enriched just having her touch you in her very caring way. Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy Comes in the Morning. Psalm 30:5. This is the promise we have from God that Joy will come in the Morning! So patiently endure the night and wait for the Joy to Come!

John the Revelator left us with a message filled with hope and promise. Revelation 14:13 reads, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord”. Henceforth, “Blessed indeed says the spirit, that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them”. With this assurance the members of the Lewis, Cherry and Johnson Families pray the precious influence of the Holy Spirit will abide with each of you.

Think of your loved one as someone whose work is done, whose troubles are now past, entering gladly through that friendly door to “Home at last”.

    Prayerfully Submitted,

The Members of the Lewis, Cherry and Johnson Families

To the Family of Lanie Griffin Austin

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. Just know that she is at peace and in a better place now. Keeping you all in our prayers.

Don’t think of her as gone away, her journey just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and tears, in a place of warmth and comport where there are no days and years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.

I am so saddened to learn the news of Lanie’s passing. I knew Lanie from meetings, conferences and phone calls. She was so dedicated to her profession and to those who depended on her for insight and information. Lanie was always so gracious, a lady of manners and good will. I am very proud to have known her and to have learned from her by the example she set just by being herself.

Please accept my condolences and prayers for strength.

    Blessings to all.
