Charlene and family, sorry to hear the loss of Cheryl. Time really flies. Seems like yesterday we all grew up in the same neighborhood and the same schools. Our prayers are with Cheryl,

Cynthia was my friend for more than thirty-five years. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed discussing politics, and loved bird watching. She and her husband, Ed, were lovely people and I will miss them both. My condolences to her son, Jay, stepson, Dan, and family.
Cynthia was a good friend and incredibly talented hostess for many of Jayhawk Audubon’s Kaw Valley Eagles Day planning committee meetings. She was an inspiration for her birding friends and we will miss her and her husband, Ed. Our sincere condolences to family members and other friends who mourn her loss.
Cynthia and I got to know each other when teaching at Cordley and on the JAS Board of Directors. Despite many health challenges, she managed to live a very full life. She and Ed contributed much to our community and to our appreciation and protection of nature, especially birds. I’ll miss the Shaws very much.
I met Cynthia over 40 years ago through the Jayhawk Audubon Society. She was an avid birdwatcher and participated on the annual Lawrence Christmas Bird Count for over 40 years until her recent poor health prevented her from participating in the event. She was a very witty and kind person who absolutely loved wild birds and fast sports cars! She was the consummate hostess and was a dear friend. My condolences to her family and friends. She will be missed. I am dedicating the 2017 Lawrence Christmas Bird Count to the memory of Cynthia and Ed Shaw, RIP to both of them!
Cynthia was an old friend of mine and will remain one of my fondest characters from my time in Lawrence. As Galen wrote in his condolence note, I met Cynthia over forty years ago through the Jayhawks Audubon Society. There were several of us that travelled the Midwest birdwatching, camping and eating our infamous chili. Sometimes we would drag Jay along with us. It made an odd group, several older ladies and several college guys … eyes trained on some bird way off in the brush. Cynthia was a wonderful cook and a grand hostess. We learned a lot about life from the ladies that took us under their wing, Cynthia chief amoung them. I left town before Ed came into the picture. I treasure my times with Cynthia and I leave my warmest condolences to her family and friends.
I wanted to express my sympathy for your grief and loss at this time and share a scriptural thought of comfort from,
Revelation 21:4 – “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
With this promise God confirms that death is an enemy that he will remove forever. Again I am so sorry for your loss.
So sorry to learn of Cynthia’s death.
I first met her when I was in the third grade in Sterling Ks.
We had great times together…we had the same piano teacher and loved playing duets.
She was such a smart lady…always fun to be with her.
May she rest in peace.
