Memorial service for Betty Olson, 88, Lawrence will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Entombment has taken place at the Memorial Park Mausoleum. She died November 25, 2012 at Brandon Woods.
Betty was born on May 12, 1924 in Anacortes, Washington, the daughter of Joseph Carl and Ella (Gee) Pratt.
She married Orrin M. Olson on May 8, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1995.
Betty was a receptionist at the Lawrence Beauty School and Do’s Deluxe Hair Salon. She retired from Weaver’s Department Store. Betty was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary since 1963 and the 8/40 of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1970. She was a longtime Chaplain of both organizations.
Survivors include daughter, Carol (Olson) Gardinier Winters, Lawrence; son, Marty Olson, Lawrence and partner, Steve Fendt, Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Donna Sprague, Seattle, Washington; granddaughter, Nicole Little and two great-grandchildren, Graham and Paige Little, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Sprague, son-in-law, Scott Winters and grandson, Jeffrey Gardinier.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 14 for the Children and Youth Program or Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

Marty, I will miss her so much. She was a friend.
My heartfelt sympathy to family members. Betty was such a sweetheart and we loved having her as a part of the Trinity singles group. I remember her always being positive and she loved working in Marty’s salon! We should all have Betty’s zest for life. We will miss her.

Betty was a lovely lady with an awesome sense of humor. She was the receptionist when I attended Hairbenders. We had lots of fun with her. Rest well, Betty.
