Funeral services for Jimmy Lee LeFlore, 64, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his home.
Jimmy was born on May 15, 1948 in Moyers, OK, the son of Herman & Mary (Jones) LeFlore.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was a College Resident Assistant Supervisor for Haskell Indian Nations University and retired in 2003.
He married Wanda Jimboy on November 6, 1968 in Kansas City, MO. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Kimberly LeFlore, Kayla LeFlore, Cassandra LeFlore, Victoria LeFlore; one son, Truman LeFlore all of Lawrence; one granddaughter, Kaleigh LeFlore; two sisters, Ruth Moore, McAlester, OK, Jennifer Beckman, Tulsa, OK; one brother, Thomas LeFlore, McAlester, OK; nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to the Lawrence Indian United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
Wanda, Kim and family, our prayers are with you and may the Lord send you a comforter at this time. Jim was a wonderful person who enjoyed laughing. We enjoyed knowing him and thank you for sharing him with all of us. God bless you and the family.

Jimmy was one of the first people I met when I came to Haskell Indian Junior College. I can tell you Jimmy was one of the reasons many of us achieved success not only at Haskell, but as we moved on. I never saw Jimmy when he wasn’t laughing and he was always so friendly. When Jimmy retired, Haskell was not the same. I am so sorry for your loss. Jimmy will be missed. I would also like to say Jimmy was connected to a lot of us because he played fast pitch softball.

Wanda & Family..My prayers are with you and your family. I know this time isn’t an easy one for you, but knowing Jimmy is with our Creator helps. This thought has helped us with the passing of my father recently. I will always remember the smiles, the joking around, and laughing Jimmy did. He didn’t trust me with his big 4×4 truck one time and he wanted me to have my mom drive it. It was funny watching his face as I drove off with his truck. It made it back safely, but Jimmy had that look in his eye like he still wasn’t sure about loaning his truck out to me. Those memories will remain with me always. Jimmy was such a sweet man, honest, & kind. So many words can describe what kind of man Jimmy was. I am so blessed he was part of my family. God bless him, you and your family Wanda.

Jimmy was a long-time close friend, even after our working days at Haskell, we always looked forward to the “Haskell Retirement Dinners!”
Wanda, I remember when I asked you what you first thought off when you first saw Jimmy. You said that you thought he was ugly. :o) Obviously all his beauty was in his heart and he sure was a blessing to us. Just the sight alone of him at Haskell lifted me up many times. I liked him. Blessings to your and your family to carry you through.
