good friend , lots of pleasant visits over the years,
Sorry for the lose of your father and our friend Charlie. I loved playing golf with Charlie listening to his stories. My favorite times were with Charlie and his good friend “Spankie” solving the problems of the world. I’ll bet they have already scheduled a luncheon to bring each other up tp date. Charlie is my ’legend’.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Charlie in person but heard many wonderful stories about him and his family from my now deceased husband Ray Van De Walle. Ray not only had the utmost in respect for Charlie as a fellow athlete but also on a person level. I am sure that he would want to post a tribute here. It’s at times like this that we all wish we had written down the “stories” that were so humorous that Ray fondly told of Charlie in his younger years. I wish his family well and hope that they will keep his spirit alive for many years to come. Janet L. Long – Van De Walle
Dear Hoag Family,
Recently I read in the Kansas City Star about your loved one. I am very sorry for the loss of your dear loved one, Charles M. Hoag. I am writing to express my condolences to your family. Last year, during the fall, I suffered the loss of my grandmother. I know it is very down hearting and can be of shock. But some one shared some comforting information with me, and I have ennjoyed it so much I try to pass it on.
I don’t know if you are a Bible reader but it is comforting to know that in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 9 verse 5, (Ecc. 9:5) it talks about the dead being conscious of nothing at all. “For the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”
I also appreciated the scriptures found in John chapter 11 verses 11-14. (John 11:11-14) I feel so comforted by verse 11, where it says “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.” It is nice to know that we can view death as just sleeping. Also to know that we can see them again when they awake like in Rev. 21:3,4. Wouldn’t you like that?
If you would like to discuss more, I would love to share more you can email me at mary.ruth77@yahoo.com. Also I can answer any questions you have.
Deanna, sorry to hear about your father. I remember him for his great smile. I miss seeing your family since we’ve lost touch. I always felt part of your nice family. If you get this message please call . Used to be Martha Craney . 785-608-6944. Godspeed
