Funeral services for Margaret A. Banks, 74, Osage City, formerly of Lawrence will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died November 20, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Margaret was born on August 10, 1937 in Lebanon, MO the daughter of Shed Dow and Wilma Irene (Pearcy) Decker.
She worked for Hallmark Cards, and later drove a school bus for Lawrence school district USD 497 (Wakarusa Valley Elementary) for ten years. She also delivered prescriptions for Medical Arts for three years, but most of all she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Square Delights Square Dancers for eight years.
She married John W. Banks on September 11, 1960 in Lebanon, MO. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Debra Ann, and husband, Gary C. Heath, Tonganoxie, KS, Diana Lynn Tindall-Huseby, Lawrence, KS, Mary Margaret Banks, Lawrence, KS, and Sharon Elaine, and husband, Doug Watson, Lyndon, KS; nine grandchildren, Amy Carlsten, Waylon Banks, Ashley Flaskerud, Nicole Huseby, Tyler Robinson, Neal Huseby, Morgan Goldring, John Goldring, Ivy Woolsoncroft; six great grandchildren, Jordan Williams, Ashley Carmona, Casangela Hall, Madison Hall, Cameron Ayers, Taylor Pommell; four brothers, Dow Decker, Dale Decker, and Don Decker all of Kansas City, MO, Paul Decker, of Lawrence and one sister, Norma Vannoy, Kansas City, KS. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Lee Hall on September 24, 2001; and one great grandson, Cody Blake McNish on April 24, 2009.
The family will greet friends from 7 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to American Diabetes Association or American Lung Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
